Younger Year

Thirty-eight looking back at twenty-eight. The distance is the song.

Younger Year

The Story

Younger Year is American country in the Dirt Boy lane — sparse acoustic beds, telecaster stabs, kick-heavy drums — sung by Cole, a man deep enough into his thirties to finally see his twenties clearly. Every song is a look back at the younger year: past the pavement, the same worn gear, the boys in orange, the room he didn't ask for. The delivery is North Dakota direct — half-rapped verses that talk to you like a tailgate conversation, choruses that open into melody when the memory earns it. No party-bro anthems, no whoo-hoos. The good times in these songs already happened, and the songs know it — that's what makes them warm instead of sad.
